There is no way to really believe or trust a person you have never met except through conversation online.
The staff members, from the administrators to the moderators, are just like you.
They have had their share of problems and they know how important it is to have someone to talk to - someone that they can count on to lend them an ear and an open heart. At Helping Teens not only will you be helped - but you will have the opportunity to share your wisdom with other teens. There are several different ways you can be helped at Helping Teens.
There are also many articles that have already been written and are located in our Articles Section. The article topics are quite varied and include such things as: suicide, depression, sex, sexuality & pregnancy, self harm, rape & abuse, school & after school, bullies, relationships, family & friends, smoking, self esteem, religion & spirituality, general health, disorders & eating disorders, drugs & alcohol and miscellaneous topics.
If you would prefer to chat with someone LIVE, Helping Teens has that too!
This is where you will be able to share what's on your mind and get help from other members.
It is also where you will be able to help other teens with their problems.
All we ask is that you be forever mindful of our rules to be considerate of other people's feelings.
"Chat rooms allow you to meet many people you do not know, and while this can lead to fun friendships, it can also be a way for people who mean you harm to gain access to you."When children are in a chat area they are in a very public "place".
Helping is a SAFE PLACE for teenagers to be themselves.
A place where you will be treated with kindness, compassion AND respect.
Some chat rooms are just open conversations with no moderation where everyone has a pretty much equal role; some are moderated by a "leader" who leads the discussion and participants; while others have chaperons or monitors who are responsible for maintaining order and assess what people write before anyone else gets to see it.
